We’re currently investigating an issue related to the forum theme and styling that is impacting page layout and visual formatting. The only people I have seen that have had problems with the upgrade to SP2 were ones that had spyware and/or viruses present on their system. Just make sure your system is clear of all malware and you should be fine.
I would go with an online retailer like newegg because you can find the OEM copies that aren't typically in retail stores. if you're a student, check out your school's bookstore. Academic licenses are even better deals than OEM.
LOL "purchase software" Open source and freeware is the only way to go! That said, I think Newegg has some deals on the OEM version of XP and if you are a student there are even better deals. Why not try a Windows clone like Xandros and save your money for more hardware?
