I'm just getting into all of this type stuff and am wondering what sites you guys go to to buy your equipment. Also, are there any good sites you could recommend for reviews and stuff like that? Thanks.

I buy my TVs at Wal-mart, my monster cables at Best Buy and my Bose speaker systems from Circuit City.

Joking

I do not own (or plan to buy) any monster cable or Bose products. I mainly buy my AV equipment from Monoprice, Amazon, and Outpost.

I purchased my Onkyo AVR from Vann's.
I purchased cables from monoprice, parts express, and Blue Jeans Cable.
I purchased my Samsung HDTV and Tripp Lite Surge Protector from Amazon.
I purchased my Sanus component rack from Stands and Mounts.
I purchased my ideal-lume bias lighting from Cinema Quest.
I have had Klipsch repair my speakers/subwoofer.

TVs from B&H

Reviews? Well, there are an infinite number of opinions at AVS Forum... If you have an infinite amount of time.

I bought some of my stuff from ebay, some from av123, and my cables from bluejeans. I will say that bluejeans order processing and shipping are lightning fast and their products are great. I also love my new Rocket Speakers (from AV123).

Used speakers can be a great deal (how I got mine).

Crutchfield has higher prices but everything has full factory warranties, service is excellent, and the return policy is the best you'll find. They sometimes have very good prices on closeouts of previous models.

J&R Music (jr.com) and OneCall are both good places to buy from, and J&R carries some factory refurbs (by the factory not the store) with factory warranties. They each might sell some grey market products with house warranties* but most items are "white market."

* I don't know of any specific products, but I've found grey market items at almost every online store except Crutchfield. You can always go to the manufacturer website to check if the J&R/OneCall listing isn't clear.
