The places I buy from:

NewEgg: http://www.newegg.com
Directron: http://www.directron.com
MWave: http://www.mwave.com
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com (sometimes I find something at a decent price, though not my usual computer shopping place)
Buy.com: http://www.buy.com (same qualifier as amazon)

On this build, I did a search for parts on froogle, and I also came up with (these I've never used...)

Cooler Guys: http://www.coolerguys.com
OnSale: http://www.onsale.com

I'm always interested in places with no shipping cost (hard to find it seems) and no tax. This is why I've shied away from NewEgg, as I get sacked with both.

Whichever online store with a good (reseller) rating that can offer me the best price with fedex shipping. My store loyalty died when the egg died to me.

Deadeyedata.com has some good prices on some items. Doesn't have many entries at reseller ratings yet but all are good - has good word-of-mouth over on the jonnyguru forum. I also like jab-tech.com, svc.com and most of the others mentioned here so far. I didn't see provantage.com mentioned but you can probably find the best everyday prices on Antec stuff there - eWiz.com has some stuff you don't find everywhere and decent prices.

Anyone reputable store with the lowest OTD price! Love those Fry's FREE AR with FREE shipping. Probably buy more dirt cheap stuffs from Fry's than any online retailer. NewEgg is also okay on open box stuffs but shipping and tax can wipe out some deals. Amazon is well known but is usually at the bottom of my shopping list.

One of the reasons I asked was reputable - I realize you can go and check store reputations. I had once been looking for a specific drive to match a drive that had died on me (to swap controller boards). I did find it at one retailer, who seemed to have a good reputation (the name escapes me as it was over a year ago, but I did note it down for future purchases on my part) but when I got the drive it was in a static bag that had RECONDITIONED on it. I paid the price for a *new* drive, not a used one. I had to go back and forth several times with them since it was not listed as used on the website (and as such should have been discounted) but listed as new, and they finally gave me a reduced price. After that, I saw it listed as "reconditioned" on their site.

Hence the reason I ask for where you guys tend to purchase, as a respected community of builders :)

I always shop at NCIX. its the only etailer that price matches as far as I know. I am in canada though, but this applies to the states too since they ship to the US as well.

I shop pretty exclusively at Newegg and Amazon. The only downside to the Egg these days is that UPS is now the default carrier instead of FedEx, but their return policy more than makes up for it.

I first look at the prices and then look at the store ratings and then I look at shipping prices and delivery time. I also take into account website navigation. If a store's website is too difficult to navigate I'll skip for another store. I'm not loyal to any one store. I shop around but in the past I'd say ZZF gets more of my business than any other store.

Some of the e-tailers I have used for PC parts:

ZipZoomFly
NewEgg (watch these guys they like to price gouge)
Mwave
Buy.com
Directron
Central Computer
TechOnWeb

I've used most of the outlets mentioned but most of my stuff comes from ZZF because of the tax issue with NewEgg, who was my fav. ZZFly is OK but if you need customer service they can be ZipZoomFlop. I ordered a 170 Opty from them recently which was shown as in stock & listed in my account as packed, for over a week. I checked the site & it was out of stock, then back in, then out again. I had to email & call them to cancel because you can't do it on-line once it's shown as packed. I ordered a 175 & just got it, promptly. Also watch out for the rebate scams they pull which void warranties if used & combo discounts which are stated as illegal in the fine print.
