Where do you go to get a large Plasma or LCD TV repaired?

Do most TV repair places work on these monsters? Is it very expensive? I'm thinking of buying one but am afraid the thing will die on me and I won't have any place to take it for repair or it will cost a fortune. What do people with the REALLY big TVs do? You need an army to lift them and a big truck to transport them!

Buy expensive extended warranty or just buy from Costco and be worried free.

aye...costco is finally carrying Pioneer Plasmas😀

Have seen Pioneer plasma at Costco for a while. Too expensive for my taste.

I have never heard of Costco before. Is it like Sam's Club - you need a membership?

Yes, Sam's Club is clone of Costco. Costco is good. Sam's Club is evil.

Sam's Club sell extended warranty. Costco doesn't as it offers lifetime warranty on most items.

For TVs 42" and over most warranties offer on-site service and they will only take it away if they can't swap out parts.

Parts can be very expensive: the "light engine" for a DLP set can be $1,000 - $2,000, it's most of the cost of the set. So for a TV over $2,000 you probably should spend the $300 for a 5-year extended warranty.

For one under $2,000 you might just pay with a platinum CC that offers warranty doubling if you can, and cross your fingers that 2 years of warranty is enough.

It is NOT cost-effective to repair an LCD or plasma display.
They have been brought down to the consumer level and its easier to buy a new one or have it replaced.
As plenty of people already offered the advice of checking your warranty I dont think I have to repeat it.
