Where do you draw the line?

I hope to start my own business in the coming months and years.

But in the mean time, I'm still doing the "working for a corporation" thing.

I have a decent (even "great") job, and my immediate director is also great. But his boss, whom I have to deal with frequently, makes my life miserable every time I come in contact with her to the point where I think about finding a new job.

We all have our bad days ... but where do you draw the line? What constitutes "just a bad day" and what constitutes "that's the last straw - I need to get out of this place" ?

I just put my 2 weeks in on Monday and couldn't be happier. Underpaid and things not looking good for the company. So damned happy to be able to go.

Ditto here -- underpaid slightly and company going downhill. But that's not even the primary reason. The primary reason is that on every other day, I come home feeling miserable.

If you're miserable in your job and don't find another one, you're causing your own problems...

I'll grant that working heavy construction is much different than working in an office environment...in many ways, but for 30 years, once the bullshit factor outweighed the satisfaction factor...I was outta there. Sometimes with notice, most of the time I'd tell them at quitting time on my last day..."Oh yeah, BTW, I won't be in tomorrow/Monday...call the hall and get a replacement." A couple of times, I'd show up for work at 6:30 a.m., something would happen or be said, and I'd walk...especially if I'd get to work and the crane would be sub-standard..."Life's too short to run junk...and my reputation and the lives of the crew are worth more than the job pays....see ya"...

If the job makes you that miserable, WHY aren't you looking for a better job? Are you into masochism? NO job is worth suffering for...

I wake up every morning in a bed that's too small. Drive my daughter to a school that's too expensive and then I go to work to a job for which I get paid too little. But on pretzel day....Well, I like pretzel day.
