Where do you clip your nails?

I try for in the shower, or outside if the temperature is tolerable. Too often if I try to cut my nails over the trashcan, pieces wind up flying everywhere. They're quite unpleasant when they get stepped on and get stabbed into the bottoms of my feet.

my toilet bowl and sink are right across from eachother in my bathroom, so while I'm on the bowl, I'll clip my finger nails into the sink and just wash them down the drain.
