AA, AAA, C, etc.

Between children's toys, children's toys, the vibrator, and the AC-powered desk phone that I just realized would be dead even with FIOS battery backup, I need a wealth of batteries.

Is there anywhere online that's known as best or do I hit my local BJs?

Rechargeable batteries FTW, got some and a charger at a Radioshack like 1.5 years ago, still using them.

I am already using rechargeable Energizers but they just fade out so abruptly and don't last nearly as long as alkalines so I was hoping to stock up on the latter. I mean I can't have rechargeables that have been sitting around for days as my last resort in case of emergency. I've had 3 power outages today already.

Oh, well yeah...but OP would need the charger too. :p

Last time I was at Costco they had an instant rebate on their standard eneloop pack (quad charger, 8 AAs, 2 AAAs and 4 size C & 4 size D converters) and it was cheaper than 8 AAs at Amazon.

CVS. They have buy-one-get-one-free specials every so often on their store brand, so I stock up then.

For alkalines I'd just keep an eye out for sales, occasionally local stores will have them cheap.

I use LSD NiMH rechargeables, though. Got them from batteryjunction.com. A good charger and some NiMH batteries might be a good investment, especially if you have a lot of battery powered devices. I'm sure mine have paid for themselves many times over.

edit: Nevermind missed your post saying you already had rechargeables. How old are the batteries you've been using, sounds like they're just getting old and need to be replaced or reconditioned (higher end chargers support this). And if you wanted to grab some LSD cells they don't self discharge nearly as bad as traditional NiMH cells. For emergency radios and stuff like that, though, probably still a good idea to keep some alkalines around.

No comments on this yet?

Mirroring the other posts, I get batteries either through Amazon or Thomas Distributing. AAA and AA: Eneloops. Unfortunately, they don't sell C, D, or 9V sizes in the US, assuming they even make 9V's at all. :(

I dunno, we're still on our first set from years ago. Of course, it maybe because I satisfy my woman enough that she doesn't have to resort to using one... I dunno...

Costco here as well. Haven't tried the eneloops yet, but I should. My Energizer rechargeables died a while back.
