Where do we go when we die? Just give your thoughts.

In your OWN words (a mini essay) where do you think humans go when we die? What happens to us? In your mind what is the purpose of our living existence?

Please do not debate another poster. Just give your answer and please respect the opinion of the others. I would like to ask that you try to refrain from quoting anyone with only one exception: You may quote to ask or learn more about another's belief or point of view but do not quote him to challenge that belief.

Thanks and good luck.

EDIT:
Please do not start a debate over someone else's belief.

We go no where. Death is the end. Our bodies decay, and we become food for other organisms. There is no after life. Such beliefs are signs of mental disorders.

With luck, our bodies decay and get recycled. With modern funeral customs, they stew in formaldehyde until the cemetery gets redeveloped into a shopping mall.

Prove it. I'm not saying I agree or disagree just want you to provide some factual evidence to back up your statment.

There is no evidence to indicate that ANYTHING happens to our consciousness after we die, and there is no evidence to suggest that there is any real "purpose" to being alive. Therefore, I choose to not believe in any religion, as they are all more or less pointless.

Just go to your local mortuary, i think you will find the proof.

In your mind what is the purpose of our living existence?

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Dylan Thomas

Or something like that.

That is his belief and he is entitled to it. Just leave it go.

fo sheezy.

I like the idea behind this thread, there is just no way its happening. People love to argue, and they love to argue even more when there is no way to prove anyone wrong.

Why does life need a purpose? And who says we 'go' anywhere when it's all over if life has no grand meaning? It's not far-fetched to say that we won't even know we're dead, let alone be able to take any emotions, memories, or thoughts with us once our brain stops working... which may be a good thing if you think about it.

No. His belief was the first part. The last part was a pot-shot at religion.

This thread is now about cake...

I like it with lots of frosting...
