Hmm, whenever i get a new email address, it always starts getting spam within weeks. How does this happen. Does anyone know how the spammers make up their email databases? Do places sell their lists or something?

They get your address when you click the REPLY TO CANCEL option... Then they resell those addresses... NEVER cancel a spam...

One way is when your "friends" send you an online greeting card. Using your email addy. I had 75 junk emails yesterday, a new record for me. There ought to be a law against this stuff.

You know those stupid chain e-mails? Ie that stupid snowball one? A few days of collecting those I managed to massage 5000 addresses out of the headers of that garbage. Tell your contacts
to not forward junk mail to you... otherwise your address will be in the mail header and eventually someone will parse em all out and have your address.

I'm assuming that the bulk of my email spam is from friend sending me ecard.

I get on the average of 3 to 10 mail spams perday but 9/10 is caught by my MailWasher. It is too bad that it can't be set to run as a service, but setting an agressive black list & friend greatly reduce the spam & the email have to be addess to me directly in the to: cc: box.

black-list any thing in the to or cc field that contain: *0* to *9*, *yahoo*, *hotmail*, *service*, *school*, *money*, *certified*, *exam* & *business*.
