Where do little dogs get their confidence from?

today I saw quite a few little dogs being walked by their owners. Each little dog looked supremely confident and cocky as he scampered down the street. Don't they realize a bigger dog could come along and literally bite off their head?

probably because all dogs were once big and we selectively bread certain dogs to be small. for some reason they still think that they are big.

No. My pug used to pick fights with great danes and rottweilers all the time, and eventually got bit in the face by a retriever. The odd thing is that after being bit he got even more pissed and tried to bite back.

My moms shitzu constantly attacks and bites at my much much larger black lab when they are together, and it drives me absolutely nuts because my lab either acts like it doesn't even realize its there or just walks away.

I secretly wish he would just send him flying across the room with one swipe of his paw.
