I got the acs 56 set and it came with a digital cable and all except that the cable is not a 1/8 inch digital cable to hook up with my SB LIVE! MP3+. What am i supposed to do. I cant just get another cable since the speakers dont have a 1/8 inch digital socket, or not?

You gotta love that proprietary SPDIF-out on the Live! cards....

Did you get that mini-DIN to 1/8" miniplug adapter with your MP3+? I know that newer retail cards are starting to be packaged with them because my friend got one with his X-Gamer (although my X-Gamer didn't have one). If you didn't get it, you can call Creative and they'll send you one free of charge.

darn, I didn't get one. If i ask them for one it will take forever to get to me. Is it possible to find the adapter at the nearest radioshack?

No, that 1/8" yellow thing is a proprietary creative format.
You have to request a mini-jack to RCA SP/DIF converter from Creative.
And make sure it's not a mini-jack to mini-DIN converter, mini-DIN is a different digital format, not what you need for the Altec's.

Fvcking creative and their Fvcking proprietary connectors.

Anyone know how long the shipment will take? i am assuming it will take half my life to process my request and the other half to ship.

Radio shack sells the minijack to rca adapter for a like 2 bucks, go pick it up there you wont have to wait so long for creative to ship it :)

Ok, I had this same situation. Don't call creative, the will send you a DIN connector that will not work with the ACS56s, only for Cambridge. Also, they charged me so I don't know about the free part. I just went to Radio Shack and purchased converters, but I just use analog now. I think that the digital connection may only be stereo and not 4pt surround.

The acs56 speakers dont support 4 point digital surround, only the front speakers support digital.

Does radio shack sell them? Sorry for the bad info Syborg..i thought the minijack was a proprietary creative thing...

And digital can help...depends what you are doing.
Personnally I don't notice a big difference...
But there can be a bit more hiss to the line with analog...

I have the mp3+ and the acs56..

radio shack does sell the converter.. thats where i bought mine... and yes the ACS 56 Only do 2 pt DIGITAL.. so you still got to use analog for the back 2 speakers... overall though this setup is pretty sik.. i love these speakers.. even more that i only paid 50bux for them(remember VA?)

Ok, i am going to head down to radioshack whenever i can. Cant you just go into stereo mode and mirror the digital to the back, that's what i heard.

Anyways, thank to you all!
