Where do I go to find info about a boxed CPU

hey all,

I am looking at buy a Core 2 Quad Q6700 CPU.

I am wondering how I can get information about the CPU from the numbers on the retail box before I actually purchase the CPU.

Is there a place to go (I thought it was on intel's site) to check the batch number / FPO number and see the quality of the chip before purchase?

there is only one model for Q6700, you won't go wrong
Q6600 has 2 stepping G0 and B3, G0 is the newer process.

So if the one I am buying has a date of 10/02/07
this would have G0 stepping?

No, like kotrtim already said, it makes no difference when it was made, there's only one stepping of Q6700's. They're all G0 stepping.
