OK. Things are looking pretty good, but I have a couple of questions. I have it at 2.9 (fsb 166) and my Corsair xms 3200 cas2 at 415. All my stuff seems to run real good, though I have not run this speed for very long. I would really like to get it up and over the 3.0 mark. I cannot make it all the way through 3d mark yet. Here is my problem so far:
1. I have upped the vcore to 1.65, though it is reading 1.75 in the Asus probe (the bios also says that it is at 1.65) Which one is
right?
2. My temps seem fine. 34-37 idle, 45 loaded.
3. I have my Corsiar xms 3200 cas2 at 2.6v. Is that High enough? The next option is 2.7 and then 2.9 on this board.
4. When I look in the bios health monitor and the Asus probe, my 3.3 is at 3.08, is that a problem? 12v is at 12.224 and 5v is at 5.08.
5. Maybe this is my limit. If so, I can live with it. Just seems I could go a little higher yet.

The power supply that I have in the box is the stock Turbolink 420. I have an Antec 400 watt that I was using, but I hearfd that these were made by the same company, so I decided not to bother with switching them out.

I have not used the overvolt dip on the board yet either. SO, where should I go from here?

See my rig for specs

Hiya pastorjay,
1) Asus Probe is reading right, ya need to back off the voltage a bit, try to keep it under 1.7v.
2) Temps are good...:)
3) yeah, 2.6v is fine, increasing it doesn't really help...
4) if you have 3 connectors on your board, try connecting all three connectors from your psu, that might help...
5) you need to get your rig stable, if ya can't make it thru 3DMark, you aren't stable enough, check out SupermanCK's thread for programs like Prime95 that'll help you test the stability, back up on the fsb till you stabilize...don't bother with the overvolt....

Good luck! ;)

3) I had better luck with 2.7V on my XMS3200c2. Using a P4B533E. See my system rig for full specs.

4)I tried using the 12v molex plug in addition to the regular P4 12V plug on a recalcitrant P4 2.66B and it didn't help at all. I was running at 1.675V core in BIOS, 1.71 in MBM. Wouldn't even run over 145FSB.

5)Maybe it is the limit. You're certianly in the ballpark.

1) Asus overvolts quite a bit. Stay @ 1.7 max (Asus Probe, not BIOS setting)
3) set your mem to 1:1 and find your max stable CPU speed, then go back and try the mem speed. Doing both at the same time is counterproductive

Use Prime95 for stability testing instead of 3Dmark

How do we know that the Asus probe is right and not the bios. I would think the bios would be more accurate... Asus probe has always been flakey on my boards. I can't even do a user switch in XP without the alarms going off for no reason. Just curious. Like I said, I would think the bios readin is accuate.

Try MBM5 for a 3rd opinion. Do you have the lastest version ASUS Probe? Its pretty well known that ASUS tends to overvolt. I had a P4B533 a few weeks ago. It overvolted by ~ .05 from what was set in BIOS. Yours seems kind of high with .1V though. Since you have a P4PE, its hard to say which is accurate.

Stable (through 3dmark) at 160 fsb with 1:1 mem settings. Now, I am gonna increase the mem timings and see what happens. I was so close to the 3.0 mark. 2.99 to be exact. May try it again and see what happens. But for now, stable is good.

UPDATE: Stable at 160 fsb and mem at 400. I think that is it for tonight. I will try again tomorrow to get it over 3.0. Maybe it won't. 2.88 is not so bad! Gonna let it run Prime95 overnight.

Actually ran Prime 95 all night at the above mentioned settings. I backed my vcore down to 1.575 (mbm5 reads it at anywhere between 1.65 and 1.71). I still made it through 3d mark. Hopefully I can try a couple more things tonight.

Ok, I am still at 2.88 with the vcore set at 1.575 (reads 1.68 in mbm 5). But I have got my mem running at 425 and I got all the way through 3d mark.

Got my memory set at 2-2-2-5. Things seem really great! Wanted to give a screen shot of Sandra, but don't know how to do it.
Mem Scores are 3256/3253!

Still gonna try and push the fsb a little more. I am idleing at 33c right now. Load is right at 38-40c.
