THAT should be a clue... somewhat. Check beta sites on the inet and you should be able to find an IRC channel associated with it that MIGHT have it. Just saying. It's only a beta version and so far it has major quirks in it that needs to be fixed - after all that's what beta softwares are anyway, you gotta hash out the bugs and whatever else comes your way before it goes RTM (Released to Manufacturers) or "gone gold". I'd suggest for you to hold off finding the beta version of Win XP 64 bit edition at least until it goes gold and find them in the stores. I'm also sure you should be able to sign up for the beta testing over at www.betaplace.com though I don't think they do windows beta testing, but you could always try.

I dunno much about 64 bit, but I have a question. So in order to get 64 bit, you need a 64 bit OS and a 64 bit application?

And the 64-bit hardware, of course.

The only 64-bit hardware you need is CPU and motherboard, all the other parts are exactly the same. Drivers are another issue, even though all normal PCI cards will work fine you have to rely on 3rd parties to make their drivers available in AMD64 builds.

Where do i get windows xp for athlon 64?

First you buy an Opteron system then you call MS and ask them nicely to be in their beta program, the software isn't released yet.

I have a beta copy running on my Athlon 64. Sure, its neat to have - but useless to me as a primary OS at this point. Drivers for my R9800, while there, do not support 3D. And there are no sound drivers included for any card as far as I can tell. The good news is that everything on my SK8N (sans AC97) was detected and works.

Are you suggesting he illegally download the beta software over a warez IRC channel?
