Do they go to thread heaven, if a thread is locked does it go to hell?

I started a thread about the movie Snatch and it was gone in a couple of days...?

 
It's not gone, it's just off the list of threads you have selected to show up... Like last 3 days, or last 7 days or whatever. They stick around for quite a while then are moved off to the archives where they can't be replied to any more.
 
Quite a few threads were rendered extinct recently after a server crash that took down the forums' database array, and as a result corrupted the forums' database. This was discussed in "Forum Issues."

Another possibility: considering the potential for innuendo in a thread about the movie "Snatch," your thread may have been deleted because some smartass couldn't resist making a few smutty remarks. Perfectly decent threads sometimes get trashed through no fault of the originator.
