Nothing this summer. I haven't accumulated enough leave time/money at my new job. Also a lot of places don't really seem fun to travel to by myself.

I'd like to go on a weeklong rafting trip next spring or summer, though.

 Course our biggest issue is that we don't really have interest in going to 'near by' places so we will do a big trip every other year (or as money allows)

I did a 4 week trek across Europe the year between High School and College that I paid for 95% on my own. It was an amazing time and I met several amazing people. It helps if you are a savvy shopper to. You can find some great travel deals if you are patient. We are taking our 'free' cruise next month (<- savage abuse of CC sign up bonuses and finding cheap travel deals)

I am very fortunate that my wife and I are great travel partners. We share the same sight-seeing interests

Yup, it's me and the GF...but couples trips are always fun :).

was there in April. excellent place to visit. gaitlinburg is such an amazing town. the area behind the farkles arcade looks like a town out of a rpg fantasy game. drove up to the peak of the mountain and to cherokee, nc. great trip

was told about a spot called cades cove? i guess i missed it. but great area if you like to walk. my legs were sore for 2 days after i got home.

Just got back from Maui. Good place to visit if you prefer to stay in America. Great snorkeling, hiking, zip lining...lots of interesting things to do (bamboo forest hike, bike the Haleakala crater, visit nearby islands.)

For outside the US, I absolutely *love* Aruba. Hands down the best vacation I've ever been on.

That's where I went as well. Lahaina area is the place to be. We may very well go there every year now.

1. Ocracoke Island, NC - Camped and kayaked and did other beachy/islandy stuff while there.
2. Grayson Highlands, VA - Hiked/camped. Interacted with ponies(disclaimer for animal police: I didn't feed/initiate contact). Learned that a pony isn't a baby horse. Really??? All these years I thought the word pony was like "puppy" for a horse.
3. Niagara Falls on both sides and Toronto - Did the boat thing, casino, ate around Chinatown in Toronto.

I enjoyed all three. Since I had never been to the falls, if I had to recommend in the order of preference it'd be 3-1-2.
