Where did the term pwned come from?

it came from a chess game with deep blue where the computer mispelled pawned, meaning that he took the guy's rook with his pawn... the computer had a glitch and spelled it pwned...

Unfortunately nope. It was just a typo. Why so many people use this stupid term still bewilders me. I guess it's cool to be a stupid idiot and to be constantly using a spelling mistake.

well for some reason it stuck as did the rest of L33t Spe4k and now we are stuck with it =-P
