Where did it go?

Came home from work one day and the power had been out. Even though I have a good surge protector it caused all sorts of problems.

1. I am running Win 98SE. Now when I open windows explorer the list of folders in the left pane is blank. Just a grey screen. What the Heck! How do I get this information back?

2. Now when anything opens it uses this annoying smooth scroll effect. I have gotten rid of it before but I can't remember what I did. Any ideas?

There is a bunch of other things but these are the only two I am having problems with.

Please deliver me from frustration.

I believe you get rid of the scroll effect by going to:
Settings/Display/Effects and then change the setting to fade.
Is that what you're referring to?:)

Sorry. Lost control of my fingers on that last post.

No I have already tried that but it's not the cure.

Anyway that is just a minor irritant. What I would really like to fix is the missing folders in windows Explorer.

Thanks for the help anyway.

I would recommend cbacking up your data and then formating. Make sure ther are nor bad sectors on the drive and re install. Who knows what got crunched when the power dropped.
