Where did Alpha coolers go?

Nocturnal

Those guys come out once in a blue moon and drop a helluva product and then never come back until a few years later.

Have they stopped making heatsinks for good? Do they have anything up their sleeve as far as heatsinks go? What happened to them? Anyone know?

o man... does this remind me of my PAL8045 and my OC'd Tbird back in the days... they were good stuff.

but ya they still make heatsinks like the pre9060 for LGA, it's basically same design as the 8045 with a different mount,
but alpha is not close to what they once were in terms of cooling performance.

Had an 8045 on the first computer I built. Used the system for 5 years, until the mobo developed bad capacitors. Now, I've got a new system, but I've got a kickass heatsink just laying around, and nothing I can do with it; good Socket A motherboards are more expensive now than when they were new. 🙁

The Alpha PRE9060 is fairly new and is up there in terms of performance, it probably would have made a bigger splash had it come out earlier.

Honestly I don't think aftermarket CPU cooling was really that important in their business model which is they have large gaps in which sockets they support.
