Umm...raccoons make bad pets. Can't housebreak 'em.

Get a cat.

Find a pregnant one and cut the fetus out. That way the tike will bond to you.

chop down a tree that has a mother and baby racoons in it
catch any surviving racoons if the mother gets killed in the tree felling

there might be a better way, but i know this works as that is how my wife's friend got 2 of them (but it was an accident, they weren't out chopping down random trees to catch racoons)

p.s. you don't really want one, it will grow up quickly and then attack you, racoons are wild animals and you should leave them alone

Do you really want to let a masked intruder into your home who will eventually try to kill you?

my sister had one and when it grew up it was the meanist, nastiest animal ever. it had to be caged and when you got close to the cage it would arch its back and start hissing, just daring you to stick your finger in the cage.

dont do it, they are wild and will always be wild.

Even if you get them de-clawed (which is a must because they will rip you to shreds with their OMGHUGE claws if you dont), they still make horrible pets. They are absolutlely NOTHING like cats and dogs in terms of being friendly. Think of them as bigger, meaner ferrets.

edit:

That said, I dont know how you could find a baby. About the only thing I can think of is to find a nest of them, shoot the mother, and steal her babies.

Normally people who end up with them come accross injured or lost ones by accident, and take them in cuz they feel bad, then regret it once they realize how horrible they are as pets, and often either release them into the wild, shoot them, or put them down. The worst thing to do is to release them again though because they will probably end up with rabies.

The guys are right. Raccoons make *horrible* pets. Growing up, I had a pet raccoon, armadillo, several alligators, deer, rabbits, skunk, owl, cats, dogs, possum, etc. By far, the worst was the raccoon. They are nasty, untamable, and vicious. The gators were easier to cuddle, and the skunk smelled better.

I raised a baby raccoon when I was younger. You don't want one for a pet. They sh!t all over the place and get uncontrollable when they hit adulthood. They're SMART and have really good manual dexterity. Once she got in our car and unscrewed and removed the shifter knob, disassembled a ballpoint pen, untied and removed the seat covers, and crapped on the back seat. In the end, I was the only one who could get within 20 feet of her without getting bitten. We followed all the rules for rehabilitating wildlife and took her way out into the wilderness to release her.

Edit: best part of the car story was how we found her in the car: middle of the night, we hear the horn honking and see the lights flashing on and off. Dad got the gun, went out to surprise whoever it was and found the damned raccoon.
