I'm just curious as to where you can get internet access with your 802.11 enabled laptop or PDA. Only include places that you're comfortable using the connection. If you're constantly afraid that security is going to catch you and confiscate your computer, don't include that area :)

I've got wireless at home, and wireless in all the important places at school (Library, Comp. Sci/Eng. building, Student Union, few other places), now I've got it at work, and I've also got access if I take my laptop to my fiancee's aunt's place across town (she's the relative we visit most often) and at a few of my friend's places.

I can connect to a wireless broadband connection from wherever I'm at 95% of the time. Was wondering how pervasive 802.11b is becoming in other people's lives.

outside any apple store..

For commerical access.. starbucks, borders or any place that has starbucks

I get access at home and at jennipha's place. I also get it at a few other places. While war driving I have got access in Thousand Oaks. We had to check an address, so we went war driving found an open access point, logged in and got teh info. I wanted to change teh default AP password but I didnt.. no other machiens were on the network or I would have logged in and put a file on the desktop or something like that.

802.11b pretty much anywhere in Manhattan. If there isn't a Starbucks, there's an unsecured AP.

I used to be able to get free access from an AP that a coffee shop has near work (First Canadian Place in Toronto) now Spotnik, a wireless provider has moved in. Spotnik uses three channels and one of them is the same as the coffee shop, so it's very difficult get access to it outside the coffee shop. Spotnik want's 9$ for 60 minutes, up to $50 for 30 days...

My house is pretty much it. Around where I live there's not a whole lot of places that have wifi. I'm pretty sure I'm one of the very few houses with wireless, let alone broadband.

Home and school. I don't work currently. Starbucks charges so that's out. I could probably wardrive and get it all over though I am against it so I won't.
