Where can you find a used Ducati 748 online?

I was looking around places yesterday and the prices they have on that thing are ridiculous. $11,500 for a 1998 model with 16,000 miles. Ugh. Yah. Considering how a 2002 748 has an MSRP of $13,000 I might as well go for a 2002 Yamaha R1. eGay has them pretty cheap but keeping in mind transport costs and i dont know who im buying it from im hesistant buying one from there. Any help is appreciated. I know Im probably better off with a gixxer 750 but im just pondering my choices and a ducati has been my dream bike since i was little.

Here's one for ya:

2000 748RS - Ruben Xaus World SuperSport Bike. Two hours on new motor by Jeff Nash. Professionally maintanined. $27,000 Jim Davis (Phoenix, AZ, USA) 612-8029596 - (Placed 2/19/2002) ID: 16508 :Q:Q

Yikes....how sweet a ride would that be?

No you don't need a racing license, you just can't ride it on the street unless you tack on lights, turn signals and such. You also have to deal with getting them inspected and titled for street use....huge PITA. Be a rocking track day bike tho.😀

If you want a Duc, you might want to look at used M900 Monsters as well....they can be had pretty cheaply and are a f*cking blast to ride.

You sure you want a Ducati? They're great bikes, but kinda maintenance-intensive, and like I said in that moto thread last week, expensive when they tip over.

Those bikes are sweet - but really not very fast... The handling is great, but unless you're doing a lot of track days I don't think I'd ever buy one...

I can't stand the Monster 900's. I sat on one at the bike show a few months back and it wasn't very comfortable to me.

Go with Aprilla. They're as good if not better than Ducatti IMHO.

Yah the 748 will pretty much get wasted by 600cc bikes... but im not thinking of getting it because its fast... i just want to have that feeling of riding a Ducati on track days... i know its pretty much a torture rack in city riding... but its absolutely heaven on a race track. But im still thinking... but that 2002 R1 looks pretty damn nice too. 🙂

Hmmm... a Duck... well... If you want one go for it, I just worry about rideability and reliability. BUT like I said, if ya want one go fer it. I know a few Duck guys ( they ride 998s though). You couldn't get them onto anything else.

Edit- Yep that was a 996, not 998.

my girl rides a monster, used to have a 996 I love those bikes! so much better than japanese bikes imo, there is just something about them

Yah something about them... i do wish i could afford a 998R though... but oh well. 🙂 Ill be happy with a 748... i like it revvy anyway.
