Driving laws are not an insult to your competence as a driver, but a reflection of the incompetence of 99.9% of the drivers out there.

Let's face it, most people can't drive to save their lives (and usually don't). When confronted with a skilled driver exhibiting his skill on a public street, they panic and swerve right into him.
