Well, no I don't. Is it expensive? It's got to be cheaper than paying for someone else to build me a custom box.

box? what kind of box?

um, MDF does not hold screws or nails that well, use plywood.

homedepot should have it...

you are referring to medium density fiberboard right?

Building a box for a woofer. MDF is the right stuff for it. Not too sure how much fun it's going to be to build, but it'll be cheaper than paying someone else to do it for me. ;)

Ya, Home Depot sells it near me for like $18 for a 4'x8' sheet, nothing smaller though. Add in glue, carpeting etc. and you're at like $35 and it may be worth it to spend $50 to buy one from a local shop. Just make sure they are using MDF. The only plywood that compares is marine grade and it costs a lot more than MDF.

MDF is available at Home Depot here in Baton Rouge. Used for speaker boxes, it works much better with a nail/staple gun thanahnd nailing or using screws. Glue the joints with polyurethane glue for a good tight seal. Works real well.

It will hold just fine mday.

Just use 3/4" MDF

Prell dill pilot holes to keep mdf from spliting
And use silicon glue to seal the joints

Now, this is starting to look like a doable project. I just wish I had bought a jigsaw instead of dremel way back when I was modding my case. :)

I have built probably 15 boxes for me and my friends and MDF is the ONLY way to go...

The one's you buy from Best Buy, Circuit City, etc...all fall apart after 1-2 years..

My boxes are sturdy as hell..but as someone mentioned earlier, drill pilot holes and then counter-sink the screws so when you carpet it, you have no bumps..

Also, if you go to Home Depot, they will cut the pieces for you, just have the exact dimensions you want. Then rent a jigsaw and a belt sander to finish the subwoofer hole and sanding it smooth. Maybe $30-$35 total cost..

As the others have indicated, drill pilot holes and counter-sink the screws. When you are assembling the box, utilize some construction adhesive (Liquid Nails) which will act as a good joint sealer later on. Thats about it - mine has been sticking together for about 7 months without any issues.
