Oh Boy... this is giving me bad memories...
I was in your shoes like 1 yr ago and painfully had to select something else.

They are very difficult to get.

What model in particular were u looking for?

Also be prepared to pay anywhere from 400-700 dollars for a soldom series.

They arent cheap.

I just wanted to see if you could buy them in the US and what price ranges/options there were. I might look into getting one for a i7 OC system I am building. But I cant find any site that sells them... I also considered Mountain Mods....

You may be able to buy them directly
But I don't read japanese so you'll have to do a bit more browsing.
Otherwise, it's $700+ on ebay.

They're only sold overseas. I know for certain you can get them in Japan (obviously) and Singapore. Short of traveling there yourself or having a buddy ship you one, its eBay and exorbitant markups on an already pricey item. Consider yourself lucky if you can get one for $700, the few success stories I've seen have paid more than $1000.

I don't think there is any factory produced case that would justify that kind of price tag.

I've never understood why a US e-tailer (i.e. newegg) has struck a deal to import these bad boys. The demand among enthusiasts would be very high.

the windy soldam series is the one i was personally looking at.

Red with red and black interior.

Windy cases are usually annodized 100%. Meaning even the mobo tray is annodized for color.

They are absolutely drop dead sexy if you know how to build computers well. If not, they will look absolutely horrible like a 5 yr old with a box of crayons on china dishware.

Most of the time the windy series will look like its lian counterpart.

Almost the same but a bit more quality.

Im sorry i am taking so long to help you. I was talking to my friend who did a group buy on these guys to find out if it was possible to get anymore.

He says ur out of luck. The windy phase was back 2yrs ago. Even i was late 1 yr.

Now people want big cases because were seeing a hugh migration to water.

Most of the time people who want to water pick up larger cases.

All my cases could have been windy cases if I put them outside yesterday. ;)

How durable are they?
Fall and corrosion (marine) resistance?

What good is a box costing north of half a kilobuck and looking like a rusty, dented breadbox after a few fortnights?

If you want one that bad, use google. I typed in windy soldam forum fs and got some results. Currently, someone's selling one for $490 at hardforums. one sold for $200 just last month at overclock.net and another for less than that 2 months ago.

thats the thing...

guys who end up giving up on windys get TJ-07's and do a murdermod conversion.

Or step up to a Mountain Mods PC with full LC.

If I were going to a big case like that I'd use cascaded cold plates. Plenty of room for dew protection.

Might as well get a decent fire rated file cabinet, seal it up and chill the interior down to 40C below ambient. Use the plate on the CPU for -100C load temps. 5.5+ GHz with 1.8VCORE until something goes pop!
