I'm having a hard time finding anybody who carries hard drive accoustic dampening enclosures like the SilentDrive.

Leads please.

Gizzo, isn't that like the EXACT oppisite of what he is looking for. His IBM Hard Drive isn't going to get too hot to use, no matter what he's doing, with his current setup. Adding a Hard Driver cooler will make his case LOUDER not quieter, and I'm assuming he wants it quieter... I know that my Hard Drive makes a loud whining noise that I want to get rid of.. but don't want to play the $$$ for a SilentDrive. (those bad boys aren't cheap!)

The fan in that unit is fairly quiet...use it without it if you want. When you enclose it in this box is does dampen sound quite a bit. The Silentdrive is just too problemistic, theres so many ways it can be installed improperly, it can't remove heat fast enough even for the coolest 7200 drive, heat builds up there very quickly, sortens the life of your HD quite a bit. This Cooler master unit is just a much safer solution to quiet down your HD.

There was a post about this a while back...read here:

But for much less than $35 or whatever you could just buy some sheet aluminum and epoxy or screw a box together. Prolly get the pieces for the price of scrap aluminum from any car/boat/etc fab shop. Actually, using angle or channel pieces would make it real easy.
