I really need a bigger display and I'm tired of plastic bezels and all these cheap 24" VA's and all thier problems. I need some advice on the ACD 23" 19x16. I like it because it's S-IPS and has a new panel faster this year the LGP LM230WU3, same as the highly regarded but fugly beyond description Philips 230WP7. It all aluminum which I find most pleasing and costs $900 which is not out of line in that size.

No adjustability whatsoever on it besides brightness when it's hooked up to a PC, but it sure is purty.

Only one year standard warranty :(

Bah that was two of my questions but deal killers. NEC's is 4 full years on 90 series!

That 26" is looking better all the time:)

Another thing I read about Apple is they send you a used unit, never new again, when RMAing. One guy, at another forum I'm reading right now, got 7 used ones back, progressively worse each time than his one dead pixel on initial display,

That's pretty sad, I guess Apple expects people are gonna go NEC/Eizo, etc. anyway for serious business. I didn'tlike what I read about it much either.

That 26" is looking better all the time :)

What about the Dell 2707? Its aluminum bezel, 19x12 and uses CCFL lighting for a better color space.

That dell used a pukey PVA panel, I can just imagine Zebo's head exploding from all the funky parallax/color shift a PVA of that size is sure to have.

I love Dells frames I'm not into PVA's
a) slowest LCD tech with most erratic pixel response times over spectrum
b) Color Shift
c) 27" panels pixels are waayyy to big I can see them and gaps between them. 26" I eluded to earlier might have this problem too which is why I havnt ordered it yet.. I don't know if you ever used a 19" LCD before or not but they look grainy because you can see the large pixels, the 27" Dells pixels are even larger than those @ .31mm vs .29mm!!!

I'd get the cheaper and better Dell 30" first problem with it is 3 year old panel without overdrive.:(

Life sucks when looking for a LCD if you start pouring over the details.

can get an apple 23" studio display for 725 after 100 dollar rebate and student discount right now. student discount is another 75 bucks.

it looks from the specs like an s-ips panel.. pretty sharp .258 pitch

but if the warranty is crap and so is adjustability, the inputs are limited to just DVI as well.. I'd rather go with the LG or BenQ at around the same price or better.. sorry for the bump but i was searching and this is the only thread on apple cinema displays

pretty sharp means fonts are going to be pretty small... I'd rather go for 0.27mm pitch of 24" models.

not me. My eyesight is pretty spectacular, and I'd prefer a monitor with a sharper picture over the former.

Are you sure the ACD is a S-IPS panel? I read it's a MVA like the Dell, but that was a while ago when I was researching it. I'd never use it on a PC because no adjustability means terrible picture. Also, isn't it incapable of displaying the BIOS (e.g. no picture until you get into Windows).

My friend has a first or second gen 23in ACD and it looks great, but not any better than my 2407.

All ACDs are IPS, but you're correct - unless hooked up to a Mac, it's a dummy panel. I'd be very surprised if it didn't display BIOS, etc. Macs no doubt have BIOS/service menus too.
