*WHERE* can I sign up for leasing the Honda FCX?

All the articles about how it will actually be avaliable to lease in Southern California always say that you can "sign up" for this limited list. Well, WHERE CAN I SIGN UP?! They always leave that little bit out. I don't live in SoCal (currently in Georgia), but I plan to. In fact, I'm leaving early in the morning to visit my sister in San Diego as an exploratory trip (job / apartment seeking). If, after the move, I'm financially stable when Summer '08 rolls around, I want to be on that list.

$600 a month is ridiculous.

I'd rather have a civic hybrid for $200/mo

Yeah, a $1,000,000 car that is handbuilt versus a Civic. BTW, that $600/mo includes insurance and maintenance.

The FCX is eligible for a $12,000 credit on your taxes.

just a shot in the dark, but what about a honda dealership? 😉

Well, it's kinda hard to check when they don't say so and I don't live in SoCal. Anyone in SoCal been car-shopping recently?

You 100% sure? Most tax credits were for OWNING the car not leasing.

this what i found out about hybrids.

"a. The credit is only available to the original purchaser of a qualifying hybrid vehicle. If a qualifying vehicle is leased to a consumer, the leasing company may claim the credit."

So unless somethign has changed Honda gets the credit, not the person leasing. But I am not sure about this car?

This is what I found:
To qualify for the credit, the taxpayer must acquire their Honda FCX by purchase or lease and not for resale. In addition, the original use of the vehicle must commence with the taxpayer.

It does sound like a murky part, but I know that leasees of current hybrids can get their tax credits.

i could care less that its hand built. All I want is a car that will allow me to pay as less as possible for getting from point A to B, whether it be hydrogen, gas, this, that, or the other.

I had read somewhere that this is just a test run and the total numbers will only be a few hundred all in southern California. About half of those will go to fleets.
