Anyone know of a retail store that sells Sony's (hopefully G400's), so I can take a look at it before I decided to buy it online?

Thanks,

I already checked there, and they don't have them (at least not the ones around here). Thanks for the idea though. Any others?

Staples and Office Depot. Would have bought one myself, but opted for the older Sony 19" 420GS instead. I thought the G400 was just as good, but I liked the interface with the 420GS better. This was sometime last year.

when you're ready to buy, check out ubid.com I got mine from there for $323 shipped. You could get a bad one, but I would think most likely it would be fine.

FYI: Sony recently introduced the G420. It has higher refresh rates, I'm not sure what else is changed though.

It's ashame that big retail stores only carry low to mid-range quality monitors and not high-end(professional) ones. If you look closely at the prices on PriceWatch, the "professional" line of monitors usually are not that much more than a low-end. At CompUSA I saw both the Sony G400 and I believe the model A400 for the same price of $499! What is up with that? And anyway, that is overpriced, because online it's $395. Staples just got it in, so do a pricematch and add a coupon and it's less. You would think that these super stores would at least carry a few professional monitors.

Do you have links for G420 info or spec?

Speaking of Sony Monitors, do you know if the warranty on the Sony monitors cover return shipping? (i.e. If you buy a Sony Monitor online, receive it, and it's defective, would you have to pay the shipping cost to ship it to Sony direct? Or does Sony's warranty cover that?)

Any help would be great, thanks! :D

Personally, I would look for a friend or co-worker that has one setup in use. While its good(I would say required) to look at monitors in person, going to a computer shop is a lot like going to a superstore and basing your buy on which TV has the best picture. You are totally at the mercy of the store as to how its hooked/setup. Its pretty easy to manipulate display quality to move what you want out the door.

Does anyone know where to get Refurbished G400's for cheaper than $400? Like around 300~350? Besides UBid?

I have the Sony 420GS. I think I paid about 650 for at Staples. I don't regret buying it, after looking at many it was juat the best.
