Moving to another city soon and UHaul quoted me $236 for a 10 footer truck for 3 days and 450 miles. Does anyone know a place where I can get a significantly lower rate??

$236 sounds like a good rate. but you can try pensketrucks.com
if the rate isn't lower online call their 800# and they may be able to beat U Hauls price.

When we moved across the country, Budget was, by far, the cheapest.

One note - We CRAMMED our stuff into a 15' truck, and puttered across the country at about 40 M p/h. We found out later that we could have gotten a 25' with a much bigger engine for another $50 more. Do your homework and ask about the next size up.

Thank you guys.
Found out Penske offers the lowest price in my case...$165 one way (from Upstate NY to Pittsburgh, PA), 3 days, and unlimited millege!

That sounds like a good deal to me.
Can you drop the truck off in Pittsburgh?

I'm moving on Thursday -- but it's in-town. I can get like a 28 footer from UHaul for $40 or $50 for the day to move my 2 bedroom apartment.... It's way overkill and probably won't even fit in my parking lot, but we won't have to stack anything and will be able to play soccer in the back on the way to the other place.
