looking to play poker online for free just for kicks...

for whatever reason the yahoo games poker applet wont load for me....

anywhere else to go?

Playing for free is fun but won't make you any better. Everyone just raises without thinking because there isn't anything to lose. People bluffing and other people being scared with money on the line is what poker is all about.

hell it's hard enough to play real poker in small rooms with real money. A lot of people are either teaming up with friends or have dropped down from the higher tables to rebound. They still play recklessly. If $50 is a lot of money to you, it's going to be hard to survive and play real poker at a .10/.25 or similar table.

You are joking right? Maybe NL, but not fixed. I play .50/$1, $1/2, and $2/4 fixed all the time. On a .50/$1 table I generally buy in for $10-$15 and it lasts me a good while, thats assuming that I actually lose on the night.

If you are playing NL at .10/.25, then $5-$10 should be a good amount for one session.

And the posts above are correct, playing for fake money will teach you nothing. I have been playing for real money for a year and a half, and just now consider myself to be a decent player who is able to win more than half of the time. In the past, I was just one of the many fish to be taken.....
