Where can I place my trash can and trash can recommendations

Hi,

I just moved into a new place and I'm having trouble determining the location of the trash can in the kitchen. I wanted it to be on the right underneath the window but then it would make opening the oven difficult. There isn't really any additional space between the counter tops without impeding the flow of anyone in the kitchen. There is a small piece of wall that juts out and there is 9" of space I can play with without having the can stick out into the walkway but a 9" wide can seems like it would be difficult to find and be too small. I'd rather not put the can in living/eating area because that would be very inconvenient.

Anyone have any other ideas as well as recommendations for a trash can? I really don't like having a top on the can but I think it's going to be required (one that shuts and seals very well) because I want to make sure to keep roaches to a minimum.

How about a pullout one under the sink or in the peninsula with the oven?

It's a rental so I won't be able to modify the cabinets. :'(

We have a Rubbermaid Slim Jim with a Swing Top lid.
It takes up little room but holds plenty.

Rubbermaid(?) makes a pull out that fits in a standard cabinet. I put in in my parents last house. The bin is on the small side but its fine for one or two people.

Are you talking about one of these deals because they do look interesting and that might be the solution.

Yes it was nearly identical to that one, you do have to screw it in so its stable but no landlord is going to care, especially if you leave it when you move out. Check your measurements before you buy space can be tight with the plumbing
