I have a Gen2 ipod and last week i had it in my backpack and it rubbed up against my stapler, leaving a significant scratch in the corner of the display.

I've seen informercials on TV that claim to 'remove' (i.e, mask) scratches like this, on plastic or glass. Do any of these solutions really work, and where can I find something like this B&M without having to buy online and waiting? I tried walmart and they had nothing (it was my first guess).

Use Brasso, you can find it in the cleaning section of Walmart along with floor cleaners and stuff.

I read about it on iPod forums and I wasn't too sure but I tried it out last night and it really works well, both on the screen and on the back. Sure there are products like the iCleaner or IceCream that are marketed especifically toward the iPod but why buy something that's $20 when a $2.0 bottle of Brasso works. I have a 1st gen that I got used so it was very very scratched up, to the point where the screen was turning white. 2hours session with brasso and now it looks like new. link to thread at ipodlounge

i heard of the icleaner. i had asked a guy at a hardware store abotu brasso and he was like are you freakin' nutts??!? i've heard people who've used brasso with success stories as above but i'm too scared.

i preferred my method- my ipod crashed after 6 months, was completely scratched up. went to the apple store and they gave me a brand new one free of charge :)

Iono how to fix, but to prevent, I use those pda protection screens and just cut them up into size. I use it for my cell phone and my camera lcd display.
