My ceramic's project is almost over, it will have been about 5 weeks, it's an enlarged model of a Lamborghini Murcielago.

Anyway, instead of painting it or something similar, I want it to have a really nice shine and I was thinking that gold might just do it. I asked someone and they said getting it gold plated shouldn't be too much since it's just a small layer but I don't know where to get it done and/or what price range I'm looking at.

Any suggestions? I'd like to avoid painting it myself because it won't look as good and won't have the shine like gold does. Oh, and yes, I'll post pics of it once the model is done before and after gold plating, it'll probably be a few more weeks.

Can you plate something ceramic? I thought the material had to be conductive to plate it.

You might try the phone book for plating companies. If they don't do gold plating they could probably give you the name of a place that does. I wouldn't get your hopes up though that it won't cost much. Plating is not cheap. Usually it is charged as a lot charge. It would be less per item if you had say 100 or so of them to plate but one would probably cost quite a bit.
