I have a fan controller that comes with 4 thermal probes attached to various system components to read their temps. I moved one of these probes from place to place a couple of times and now the tape that came with the controller barely sticks to my video card. I would like to know where can i buy some strong clear tape to hold em down. Can someone recomend something?

You could also check your local auto supply store. They usually will have something to use in high temp situations. And McMaster-Carr has a couple of pages with high temp tapes: 3349 and 3352. On page 3352 is heat-resistant Kapton tape with acrylic adhesive which is good up to 350 deg. F. I think this is what comes with most thermal probes and costs a lot less than the Akasa stuff. You can get the same with silicone adhesive for up to 500 deg. 5 yards of 1/4" wide is under $4. Besides the Akasa stuff is double sided for fastening heatsinks to chips. You don't want anything (except maybe a little dab of TIM) between the probe tip and the surface you want to read.

And welcome to the AT forums.

Yes, i had the same thought about Akasa being double sided and that it may not be perfect for what i want. Luckily, I still haven't bought it yet nd i'm still looking for something better. I don't have McMaster-Carr catalog, but i wil look online, may be i'll be able to find it there. Do you happen to have the item number for that tape on page 3352?

I see that the cheap stuff in the Froogle list is the silicone adhesive which may offgas some acetic acid (corrosive) as lots of silicones do when curing. So you may want to go with the acrylic adhesive version of Kapton tape like the McMaster catalog number I gave above.
