I gotta build a network for someone, he needs all new software.

Adobe Creative Suite
Microsoft Office 2003 w/ Publisher
Symantec SystemWorks
Corel Suite

The prices on some of these packages is really crazy

Student discounts should not be used for commercial purposes

I assume then that this person is also a student, and the new network will be used for education purposes, and you are not charging for the service of setting it up. Academic versions of Office 2003 are Standard only. That is, they include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I am not aware of any of the other mentioned companies have as extensive an Academic program as Microsoft's MSDNAA. Your best bet will be to try and find OEM licenses somewhere. Depending on how large, you may be able to get some kind of bulk discount.

No... it's for my work. I am not being paid to set it up however. Even though I should be. Whatever, that's another issue.

Student discounted software is for personal use, not work.

Places like CDW cater to businesses and can sell volume licensing packages. That's your best bet.

I'd probably go with newegg cause I have a bunch more stuff to order from them anyways.

MrChad, this is a small network, 2 or 3 PCs. 4 tops.

Still, give CDW a call and ask what licensing options they have. For 2 or 3 PCs, you still might be able to get a slight discount.
