Cool link, thanks. I was looking for some specs. I found there US distributer, but dont think they would sell me 3 or 4 fans. I was hoping to find a retail source without e-mailing EMB.

I would not waste much time searching for Papst fans. If you happen to find some for sale at an electronics, or product liquidator thats great. The prices of the Papst fans from a distributor are very high. I'm talking $28+ per fan. I have found them for retail sale at several places and the price was always about the same. If you get lucky you can find them for around $4 from an outlet, but they usually are high CFM, high dB models , not intended for PC use.

Instead of searching around for hours on end for the perfect fan like I did, just buy Panaflo's from Team Awe or maybe find them at an outlet. Either way Panaflo's are much cheaper, quieter, and better suited for PC use.

Papst does produce a lot of different types of fans including quite a few series intended for PC use. Their fans are usually of very high quality and not as loud as those from other manufacturers, without providing less airflow.

Giz, from what I found ebm.com is the US distributer for Papst(pabst sounds better to me;) ) fans. I read somewhere that Papst fans are prised like any other fan in Europe. If ya know someone over there...

Next time my bro goes to Germany, I am goona have him get me some..if he has time.

I hope you don't mean me with my statement they are "relatively cheap", because they are still more expensive than the generic fan you can also buy! But obviously the price difference between Papst fans and the others is MUCH smaller than in the U.S. The existence of a (small) price difference is OK though, because Papst fans are usually of extraordinary quality...at least that's the experience I made...I just have to compare the RPM values of the Y.S. Tech fan on my CPU with those of the Papst fan (50mm) on my modded GeForce. The Y.S. Tech's speed goes up and down like crazy (and also goes down in general when heating up) while the Papst fan's speed is extremely constant!

Hanky the Papst fans that are well suited for PC use are expensive in the USA. My point was the cheap ones you find at the various outlets are not well suited for PC use. I examined the specs of the better Papst fans and they do not justify the cost vs. Panaflo's. In some instances the Panaflo specs are better.

Now if you live in Europe or can get your brother to bring you back the right ones Papst are well worth it. In the USA go with Panaflo.

Valvoline6,

OK, sorry...I misunderstood you. I thought you think Papst fans in general are not suited for PC use (of course most of them are not ;)).
