here's a pic http://taylordonlan.com/pics/dell/2.jpg

2 of them are broken off (don't know why or how)

I got this pc as parts, and i want to make sure the mobo isn't dead.

looks like someone purposely or accidentally broke them.

Thanks

You should be able to get them at any decent electronics shop. I would desolder them and take them to a shop so they know exactly what your looking for.

What is that you are referring to? I have no idea what C447 and C440 is.

The picture was from another member's PC. I can't desolder them because they are not there 🙁

I need to find a DECENT electronics store. Haven't seen any in my area 🙁

Does FRY's carrry stuff like this?

Thanks for the help

Look at the numbers on the motherboard in your pic. That's what he's asking. The big tall cap C447, or the small cap C440. Looks as if resistors R443 & R447 are missing. Might just be the pic though.

that pic is off a working motherboard without any defects.

i ahd someone from the board take it for me so i could look at the numbers on the capacitor.

i jsut dont understand how they could be broken off, both of them.....

Nichicon is a brand name, match the numbers on the side and your good to go.

If you need a Xerox copy, it MUST come from a Xerox Copy machine
If you need a cola, is it a Coke, Pepsi, R.C., or Sams Club.

Match the numbers, Radio Shack most likley

Yup... just match up the numbers on the capacitor.... the brand name doesn't matter, as long as you get the value and voltage right. If RS doesn't have them, try http://www.digi-key.com or http://www.mouser.com - either one of those sites should have what you need.

If memory serves me voltage AS LONG AS IT IS HIGHER is not critical, however the higher the voltage the larger the cap.
If you cant find a 1800 an 1700 or 1900 will work. A 1600 or a 2000 might work and so on.

True, but you got it kinda mixed up. According to the first pic, it is a 6.3V cap. When looking for a replacement cap, as long as the voltage is greater then 6.3, it's fine. On the other hand, the uF(the u is actually mu (sp) but i can't type that) has to be matched exactly the same or else it will burn out your board. To recap, get a 1800 uF cap which is 6.3V or higher.
