I just came across one of these . Will it work alone as a standard pci video card or does it need to be connected to another card to display ? I have a cord that looks like it would connect to the vga plug of another card.
I seem to remember a few things about them but I was just getting into PC games then.

it needs another card to work. You then have to connect the Voodoo 2 to your other card :) Voodoo 2 is 3D ONLY.

That's strange. I was just looking for drivers for one of these (a Monster 3D II) to put in a barebones P200 system I set up so my kid can play some old dos games. This after the thing's been sitting in the bottom of my closet for several years.

You can check for drivers here

Win95/98 will probably be the best you can run under. Looks to be some support for W2k but XP might be a stretch.

In addition to the 2D video card, you'll also need the short connector cable to run from the output of the 2D card to the input on the back of the voodoo 2.

At this site called "Anandtech Forums" ... ;)

You'll need a normal 2D/3D card, and then install the V2. Plug that short cable into the 2D/3D card, and then the other end into the V2. Plug monitor into V2. If you've got two identical V2 cards, you can unleash the awesomely powerful SLI (Scan Line Interleaving) functions to get 2x the throughput by installing both and using the short grey cable to internally connect them.

This thread makes me feel old.

My friend payed $400 for a V2 12MB so he could play Final Fantasy 7. Our Riva 128 cards couldn't do it. Stupid 8bit palletized textures.

ah, the good ol days of SLI Voodoo2 cards. I still have my pair sitting in a stat bag in a box.

I think I'll pull it out, install it in a K6III-400 pc thats also collecting dust. Hell, I'll even install a Diamond Steath pci card.
If anyone wants to buy this piece of history. Talk about going waaay back.

Those were the days. Anywhere, I still have my original SLI running in an "old-school" box that I use for testing apps under Win9x and Linux. Got it back in Feb of 1998. The week Creative got the drop over Diamond by actually making the street date of 20 Feb 98.

Box #9:
Dual-boot
- Windows 98se
- Linux, Mandrake 9.1
Antec pp352x 350w
Epox 8KHA+
Duron 950mhz
Taisol CGK760172
512mb Dane-Elec (Nanya) PC2700
Matrox Millennium G400 16mb AGP
Creative 12mb Voodoo2 SLI
Creative SBLive Value (CT4830) w/Hoontech DB III Digital
Altec Lansing ACS56 4.1 (shares w/Box #3)
3Com 10/100 3C905B-TX
WD 7200rpm ATA100 60g
Acer 52x CDROM

Still runs great after all these years.
