Where can I get high quality mp3s?

Currently I am using WinMX but I can't always find everything I want at a high bitrate. I want 256 or higher. And the highest i have been able to find on Kazaa is 192.......

you really wont hear a difference between 192 and the highers i believe...

192 is great. the problem is people encoding using some old cruddy codec or recording off tv/radio/tape or analog rip instead of digital rip. some of the encodes out there are horrific for 192kbs.


optimally it should be ripped through eac and encoded using newest lame codec. most group releases stick to that.. but finding group releases on file sharing services is iffy.

There are a lot of mp3 groups out there which do use EAC/LAME to rip and encode CDs, I'd check efnet and the group's dcc channels.

Agree. Not like I'd ever buy a Celine Dion album anyway, but I always rip CDs the moment I buy them. I don't even have a stereo at home, I play all music from the computer. No way in hell I'm gonna buy an album I can't play on there, or one that may even damage it, then I'd rather buy an illegal (not protected) copy or just download the songs. The music industry seems to feel like shoving a burning corncob up our behinds, but I kinda try to avoid that.

Excellent idea, and one that should be practiced any time these "defective" cd's are come across.

you can buy the CD and use EAC with a good codec. That alwasy makes the best sounding mp3s IMO.
