Where can I get free domain registration?

I need to just register a domain name and not hosting yet. Problem is I can't use a CC to pay for it. Don't really mind paying for it but would like it free like all true slackers 🙂 I'm new to making web pages (thank god for Dreamweaver!).

I have seen many sites that use the CJB, but where in the hell can I find the page to get signed up? I noticed that a lot of counter strike clans use it and don't have much advertisement. Can you post it fer me johnjohn320? 2000 posts? WOW.

if you think 2000 posts is something to gawk in awe at... wait until you see some of the lifers, they have over 10,000 posts😀

Was about to say Namezero as well... however they register the name to themselves (but free)... until you become a PLUS member, then they will put it under your name and you'll be paying > $20/yr. If you want to change from them later on, you will have to wait 6 months before being able to transfer registrars (since they aren't the cheapest renewal fee currently around $24.99/yr).

If you plan on paying for the name anytime in the future... I'd go with GoDaddy.com and avoid all the hassle... (like I'm going thru now).
