Where can I get DSL modem?

Any good places to buy a DSL modem? I don't care if it's an internet site or a store, as long as it's better than the $300 my ISP quoted for one. While we're on the subject, any recommendations for the best modem?

Thanks😀

What kind? I guess I'm looking for one that will be used for a desktop computer. I don't expect to be running any networks with it. I just recently started looking into DSL because my dial-up is starting to get too slow for my tastes.😉
If you need more information than that I'll have to get back to you. Time to do some research.
Thanks

I received a free DSL modem when I signed up for my service through Verizon. They were running a special where if you signed up for a One Year Contract they would give you the DSL modem and filters.

You'll want to find out what your provider uses and can use. There may be some limitations. www.pricewatch.com is a great place to search for a particular brand/model.

I have SDSL and use a Netopia 7100r. Most major DSL providers use some flavor of ADSL (or ASDSL) and they use all sorts of modems. QWEST uses a Cisco 675 or 678. They don't support anything else and claim on their web site nothing else will work. In some parts they use MSN and that I know is free (or maybe it is charged monthly rental). You will need to know this if you want to buy your own. Most will rent you one too. That is often a good way to start. It leaves you the option of changing if you come across another provider that offers a better deal. If you plan on keeping the service you can shop around for the same one on eBay or whatever.

You can not find a DSl Modem on the regular US market.

You can try eBay, at times there are individuals auctioning their device.

I wish, if you find let me know.

The 5 pages that I get on Pricewatch comprise of DSL Modem Router i.e. Barricade and similar.

http://www.pulsewan.com/about.htm, seems to sell services, not individual modems.

If you have a specific link, please post.
