Damn, these drive cages with the rubber grommets have been really annoying lately, I've been trying to install some drives into my system but because I only have standard screws, I can't install the drives properly with out practically bending the drive cage just so that I can get the screw into the HDD.

Where are these screws that I can find that are for these drive cages that have rubber grommets? Howcome I can't find them on antec's website? BAH!!!

Try going to Performance-PCs. They usually have a lot of spare parts.

They should be in the packet of parts that came with the case - the 3000-B comes with at least 20 of them... I'll withold the D word while awaiting your excuse for not having them.

. You can always give Antec a call - nothing to lose. Or you could just get some No. 6x32 phillips head screws at the hardware store. You want only about 1/8" of thread to go into the drive itself so you'll probably need 1/4 to 3/8" long ones. If it looks like more than an eighth in. of thread is left to go into the drive, shim the screws out with No.6 washers. You'll also need some kind of bushing to take up the extra space in the grommets. A friend makes bushings for no. 6 screws out of approx 1/8" i.d. (inside diameter) copper tubing and Radio Schlock used to sell little baggies of bushings, but I don't recall if any the size you might need are in the bag.

Rosewill (R6A series) and Thermaltake (Tsunami) also sell cases on the 3000-B design - perhaps alternative sources of parts...

I don't where you live, and so forth, and so on, but locally (to me) there is a Ace TrueValue Hardware that carries every kind of screw you can imagine, and then some. It's, like, their thing, you know?

Or, maybe you can find a local hobby shop, or whatever.

Kinda depends on where you live...

I don't have these screws because I obtained the case second hand from a friend, apparently he never had them... What is disturbing is the fact that these screws aren't readily available.

The grommeted drive mounts normally use custom shouldered screws (like these at McMaster-Carr - but you usually can't find the correct length/diameter of shoulder and/or thread length for an exact replacement), so I doubt you'll find them at Ace Hardware either. You'd have to get some bushings as well as proper length 6x32 screws.

Hey G-Y, HardwareSecrets seems to be down...

Heh! What a hoot!!!

First of all McMaster-Carr is the best, e.g. that's where we get most of our stuff (I'm a machinist, amongst other things). Their 'yellow book' is obscenely large, isn't it?

Secondly, there's a difference between Ace and Ace TrueValue. LoL! I think they split up in, like, the 1920's...

*edit*

I stand corrected...
The history of True Value begins with John Cotter. Our founder worked in a retail store beginning at age 12 and built his experience over the next 32 years before creating Cotter & Company. He established the [breakaway] hardware co-op in 1948 with 25 [rebellious] retail members.
The Ace TrueValue dealer I'm talking about prides themselves on having the best 'screw department' in the city. They have a LOT of hobbyists, RC builders, yada, yada, that use them exclusively. If they don't have it, they'll get it.

Anyway, if the OPER looks around he'll find ppl that specialize in this stuff... ;)

Gabe must be working on his site, that link worked good at 6:00am.
He explains all the bits & bobs that come with a case in the little plastic bag.
For damn near a one man show Gabe does one hell of a job.

Vin, et al.,

Around here, home depot/lowes have the biggest selection of screws and special hardware that I'm aware of.

It might be easier to drill and tap your drive for the size of screw that fits your grommet... ;)
