Where Can I Get A Standing Air Conditioner?

I have a new dorm room, and its pretty damn hot in here... Where can i get a standing air conditioner?

THis was discussed a week ago in another thread.. your choices are as follows:

- Freestanding air conditioner. Requires a hose going out the window to exhaust the hot air. Expensive. You can find them at hardware stores.
- Swamp cooler. Very high powered fans (often squirrel-cage style). Also expensive and hard to find in certain areas.
- Standard floor fan. Cheapest method. Just keep the front door open and blow air out.

depending on where you go, the dorm might not have power to power an ac !

my friend in l.a. has a vornado fan and swears by it. if you go the fan route, id look into that brand.

Yeah they are pretty expensive, lemme see if they will let me put in a window unit...

If they let you put in a window unit you can buy an 8,000 BTU a/c for around $250, that should definitely do the job and comes with a remote control
