i want a copy of my credit report because i think i might still have some open lines of credit from years ago that i never closed down. where can i go to get an easy to read copy of my credit that would help me out? i do not mind paying a few $ for it, but getting one for free would be a good bonus. thanks.

I got mine from equifax I got the credit score & report option for $12.95. I was quite surprised at my credit score, didn't think it was that good.

I've been considering ordering that, although I've recommended it about a 100 times, did you like your report, how quick was it, was it pretty informative or blunt, what about the credit score?

The report is very easy to understand, took about 3 minutes to get. You have to verify you're identity where they ask you where you have a loan from and how much the payments are. The score report is easy to read also. They include positive and negative factors of how it was determined. You can see who's checked your credit. For $12.95 it's worth it.

I will probably go with Equifax because it is just a one shot deal and I do not have to worry about cancelling something at a later point in time or whatever.

Just to verify, will the report tell me all open lines of credit I may have? I was pretty stupid back in college and signed up for all sorts of stuff :(

Cool, thanks. Sears and Montgomery Ward are NOTORIOUS for fudging credit and they fudged mine up, I thought it was cleaned up but it's still not .. So I have write even more whine/bitch/moan/complaint letters to get it resolved but AFTER all that's done I'll probably order a Score Power from EquiFax. Thanks again.

PAB - This isn't my best, my best response time was 1 minute from someone posting a credit question, then I replied then 1 minute later Skoorbie replied whilst I was replying.

:D

How long does it take before a credit report exists for you? I don't have any loans, just a Visa I've had for a few months. I certainly wouldn't pay to see my credit rating now, but wouldn't mind waiting a couple weeks for a free one just as a curiousity. If it exists.

It should show everything ... although you can get free credit reports I would strongly recommend the EquiFax Score Power for $12.95 it's nice seeing both your credit report AND your credit score.

Credit Bureau's are usually 2 months behind in reporting on their tapes, so after having your cc for 3 months I'd order this from EquiFax.com to see your credit report AND credit score.

I would ask Kaervak since he's already ordered one but I'd imagine your full name, social security number, current and previous addresses, employer info, dob, question about current loan payments, etc.

Actually no, not for the identity verification part. You do have to supply those when you first sign up though. All they ask for the Identity verification is who you have a loan from, and there's a few choices, then they ask how much your monthly payment is and there's also a few choices.
