it can be passive since i am putting it between the inputs, not the outputs..

cheap as in <$10...

thanks

I don't think you'll get a satisfactory result with what you're trying, but I need more info to even try to answer your question.

1. Are you trying to derive your sub channel info from the sum of both channels?

If so, do you know how to sum them without introducing crosstalk between the L and R channels?

2. The simplest crossover would be passive, consisting of a single shunt capacitor, the resistors of your summing network and the input impedance of your sub amp. You would need to know these values to calculate the value of the capacitor.

Such a network would only give you a 6 dB/octave rolloff of the high frequencies, so you would still be putting out a lot of highs into the sub.

Another cap should be placed in series with the input of each main amp. Again, the value would be determined by the input impdance of the amp.

If you know how to build electronic circuits, a decent active crossover would be fairly inexpensive and easy to build on perfboard using a few op amps.

low pass as in only low frequencies would be sent to the sub input. It would be a coil circuit acting as a choke to the high frquencies...

i can produce circuits and have all equipment, i really just need a kit, i think i have bread boards and empty silk-screenies of circuit patterns as well..

edit: i am not filtering L AND R separatly, i am trying to stop high freq signals from entering the sub and making it harder for it to hit hard at the same time as a mid-range tone is comming thru...
