Where can I get a cheap external laptop battery?

that pack looks interesting. i wodner if there are any reviews though. laptop batteries are just way too costly.
 
That looks like 10 NiMH C batteries in series. Probably pretty clunky, but if your laptop is meant for 12 (probably even 10.8V) input then I see no reason it wouldn't work. The laptop would think it was running on wall power and drain the battery faster than it normally would, but that's about it.

Most laptops need 16-20VDC power supplies nowadays, though. What laptop do you have?
 
On my laptop it says 16V, and then on the Lithium ion battery, it shows 10.8V. So would that still work with the ebay auction?

Are you sure? How come the laptop battery can be 10.8V. The guy also mentions in his auction that it will work with IBM laptops.
