Where Can I Get 99% Isopropyl Alcohol?

What I've read says to use 99% isopropyl alcohol to clean the old paste from the CPU cooler. Finding 70% is easy, it's in groceries and drug stores everywhere. But I can't find 99% anywhere. Or is 99% going overboard and 70% is really fine. Thanks!

Don't worry about the 30%... it just takes a little longer to dry. There are regs about alcohol % in the states.

Just about any good drug store should carry 91%. If there's a pharmacy department in a store, they probably have it.

Thanks for the quick responses! I'll start by asking at my local drug stores, like Eckereds. If they don't have it then chances are they can point me in the right direction.

70%'s fine. I've been using it the past few times I needed to get the goop off my CPU/HSF.

I got the generic Mejier store brand 99% Isopropyl, I also seen it for sale at Walmart and Kmart. Just look at the Rx section

Like Goi said, 70% is fine. You could use soapy water to clean the core if you wanted to.

Except for the residue

What state are you in? I'm in PA, and I've only seen up to 91% in the pharmaceutical section. It's probably what ChefJoe said - state regulations about the concentration.

Illinois. There is state regulations on this? Is there a difference between drinking 91% and 99% Iso Alcohol? Would that 8% of whatever, probably water, save your life?

Use Goo Gone, or any citrus type degreaser that will not deform plastics. Then clean up the residue with 70% isopropyl alcohol.

It washes off with regular old water. (I'm not saying soapy water is the greatest solution, just that it is a solution)
