i donno what i'm doing wrong...
but both of my cars are in deep need of repair and maintenance.

i used to live in an apartment where in the back parking lot, i could do my own repairs.

but now that i moved into this apartment on a hill, and a busy one at that,
it's impossible for me to do anything.

does anyone know if people rent out garage spaces... for repair purposes?

how do other non-houseowners work on their cars?

man... times like this, i wish i had my own house. :(

Any coworkers @ your job that have homes? Perhaps you can barter fixing something on their cars in exchange for using their driveway / garage. Friends are also an option.

unfortunately, all my friends are still quite young... (in mid-late 20's.)
and all of them live in an apt, rather than a house.

and as for the co-worker thing...
i donno if i want to burden my work relationships. :(

my manager did offer her place, but i donno if i can take up her offer.

arrggg... the pain of living in an apt. :(

i doubt that i'll be able to work on the car without making sufficient amount of noise. :(

am i the only apartment resident that is in need of a space to fix cars?

When I lived in an apartment, we were prohibited from working on our autos in the parking lot. However, across the street was a business park. On weekends, the offices were abandoned, so I'd head over and find a nice shaded spot and work on my vehicle. I was able to get the brake work done along with some other repairs without being bothered. I'm sure you could find plenty of similar places where you could sufficiently get your car work done.

I ran into the same problem myself. My lease specifically mentions not doing auto repair in the lots. Sadly, I was doing ICE jobs (keyless entry and CD changer) which didn't exactly have a potential of danger or mess, which made it annoying that I had to find a place to do it.
I ended up going to visit my parents and doing the keyless at their house.
I did the CD changer in my work parking lot.

About a month later I walked out to my car and my neighbor was changing his oil in the middle of the apartment parkign lot (it's a small complex, only like 15 units).
I seriously considered ratting him out to the landlord but I decided not to....he'd probably guess it was me since I imagine not many other people walked by during that time.

If you only needed a day or weekend then I might accept my manager's offer but that's gotta be somewhat awckward depending on how close/tight you are with your manager.

A week is a long time, I'd try hitting up an ex-g/f or relative.
