I tried radio shack but i dont like to buy a 5 pack of something i dont need.

heres a list of what i need:

-A male 25-pin D type connector to which you can solder the wires.
-A plastic cover to fit around the D connector.
-Two diodes, of type 1N4148 (small silicon switching diodes).
-Two 1K ohm resistors
-A piece (1 to 1.5m or so) of thin electrical three-core cable.
-a 2.5mm stereo jack

let me know guys. BTW, im building a a Parallel link for my ti-83 calc so i can hook it up to the computer :). let me know guys.

If you want something local check the Yellow Pages for some electronics parts store. If you are comfortable online, then try the companies mentioned already: Digikey, Mouser, Jameco, Newark, etc.

Which parts can't you find from which stores? I find it hard to believe that any of the stores Qacer mentioned doesn't have all of them.

Yeah, those are really really common parts. Got any old dot matrix printers or old electronics? You can cannibalize them for parts. The diodes are labeled 1N4148 and just read the resistor color codes.

I made one of those in high school, used it once or twice. Why not just get the black serial link or the USB link for a few bucks. Theres a electronics place in Dallas that sells USB links for ~3 bucks, you can probably get one at Office Depot or something for ~10 bucks.

If you still want to build one, digikey or mouser is guaranteed to have the stuff. Page through the catalog and make sure you're not ordering surface mount components and you're all set.

it only matters if you get those polarized resistors. ;)

decided to scrap the project. turns out that the parallel link does not have much support on modern computers even with the help of the resistors. well there goes 8 bux down the drain....

When I was in school I went to the local electronics shop (in this case, MarVac), which had everything. I didn't order from Digikey often due to the min order, but they do have everything.
